Eligibility
This examination is applicable to officers of the Sri Lanka Teachers' Service and teachers in provincial public services who meet the requirements specified in the Gazette.
Officers who have been promoted to Grade 2 Class I are required to complete the 3rd Efficiency Bar Examination within four years of the promotion. The Gazette also specifies requirements for teachers who received Grade I promotions after 30 June 2025.
Examination Structure

Pass Requirement: A candidate must obtain a combined total of 40% or more from Paper I and Paper II.

How to Apply
- Visit the Department of Examinations online application system.
- Download and read the official instructions before completing the application.
- Complete the online application in English.
- Submit the application before the closing date.
- Download and print two copies of the submitted application.
- Complete the required sections and obtain the necessary certification.
- Keep the copies safely for future reference.
Examination Medium
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. The selected language medium cannot subsequently be changed.
Examination Centres
The examination will be conducted at examination centres established in the cities listed in the Gazette, depending on the number of applicants. The examination city selected in the application cannot subsequently be changed.
