The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has announced contract recruitment opportunities for Driver and Conductor positions at depots across Sri Lanka. According to the recruitment notice, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a total of 1,286 positions. Priority will be given to applicants from the respective local areas.

The vacancies are available across 12 SLTB regions covering the island. Interested candidates should carefully check the educational qualifications, age limits, physical requirements and other conditions before submitting their applications.

Driver Vacancies 2026 – 1,037 Posts

Driver Qualifications

1. G.C.E. (O/L) with 6 subjects and 2 Credit Passes, obtained in not more than two sittings.
2. Age between 21 and 45 years.
3. Valid heavy vehicle driving licence with more than 3 years.
4. Minimum weight of 45 kg.
5. Minimum height of 5 feet 3 inches.
6. Good health.
7. Experience as a Heavy Passenger Vehicle Driver from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.

Conductor Vacancies 2026 – 249 Posts

Conductor Qualifications

1. G.C.E. (O/L) with 6 subjects including Mathematics and Mother Tongue.
2. 2 Credit Passes obtained in not more than two sittings.
3. Age between 18 and 45 years.
4. Minimum weight of 41 kg.
5. Minimum height of 5 feet.
6. Good health.

General Conditions & Benefits

• Employee EPF contribution: 8%.
• Employer EPF contribution: 12%.
• Employer ETF contribution: 3%.
• Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800/-.
• Overtime allowances will be paid.
• Incentive allowances will be paid where applicable.
• Duty will be assigned on a roster basis after recruitment.
• Transfers will not be entertained after appointment.
• A travel pass will be issued for travel within 30 km to and from the workplace.

Selection Process

Recruitment will be carried out according to the procedures of the Sri Lanka Transport Board. Selection will be based on an interview, practical test and the results of the relevant training programme.

2. Print the application form on A4 paper.
3. Complete all required details correctly.
4. Select the appropriate position and region.
5. Prepare the application according to the prescribed format.
6. Send the completed application by Registered Post.
7. Ensure that the application reaches the required address on or before 07.09.2026.

The School Leaving Certificate (Student Record) must be produced at the interview. Applications that are incomplete or do not conform to the prescribed format may be rejected.
