Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must satisfy all required qualifications by the closing date of applications.
- Applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Applicant must be between 23 and 65 years of age.
- Eligible applicants should generally have been born on or before 21 August 2003 and on or after 21 August 1961.
- Applicants must satisfy the required educational, vocational or experience qualifications specified in the Gazette.
- Applicants must possess the required valid driving licence for the relevant instructor category.
- The relevant driving licence should include the required minimum driving experience.
- Applicants must be medically fit to drive and provide driving instruction.
Educational / Professional Qualifications
Applicants should satisfy one of the qualification routes specified in the official notice, including:
- G.C.E. Ordinary Level or equivalent qualifications meeting the requirements stated in the Gazette, including Mathematics and Sinhala or Tamil;
- NVQ Level 3 qualification recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or a field related to the driving profession;
- Required experience as an Assistant Driving Instructor, subject to the conditions given in the Gazette.

Driving Licence Requirements
Applicants should possess a valid Sri Lankan driving licence applicable to the vehicle categories required for the relevant Driving Instructor class.

Examination Medium
The examination will be conducted in: Sinhala, Tamil and English. Applicants must answer all examination papers in the same language medium selected in the application. The selected examination medium cannot be changed later.

Examination Fee
The examination fee is Rs. 3,000.

Selection Procedure
Candidates must obtain the required pass marks in the written examination.
Eligible candidates will then be called for an interview where certificates and qualifications will be checked.
Selected candidates will also undergo a practical assessment relating to driver training and instruction.
Candidates who successfully complete the required selection stages and Driving Instructor course may be issued the relevant Driving Instructor licence subject to the official requirements.
