Required Educational Qualifications
Applicants must have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination at one sitting with:
- A Credit Pass in Chemistry; and
- Passes in two subjects selected from Biology, Physics, Combined Mathematics and Agricultural Science.
Applicants must also possess:
- A UGC-recognized Special Degree in BSc Medical Laboratory Science.
- A degree containing a minimum of 120 academic credits.
- Registration with the Sri Lanka Medical Council as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
General Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Must be willing to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- Must possess good character.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age as at 07 August 2026.
- All required qualifications must be completed by the closing date.
Selection Method
A merit list will be prepared based on the effective date of the applicant’s degree and the Grade Point Average.
When the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of approved vacancies, a one-hour written examination covering general knowledge and aptitude may be conducted. Candidates may then be selected according to their performance and the number of available vacancies.
Training and Appointment Details
- Selected applicants will undergo six months of training in English.
- Trainees may be attached to hospitals and other relevant institutions.
- A training allowance will be paid according to Public Administration Circular 10/2025.
- Selected trainees must enter into an agreement and bond with the Secretary to the Ministry of Health.
- Candidates appointed after training must agree to serve for a minimum period of five years.
- Permanent appointments after training will depend on the approved vacancies available at that time.
Salary Scale
SALARY CODE MT-6-2025
Rs. 54,120 – Rs. 101,910
Salary payments will be made subject to Public Administration Circular 10/2025.
