Applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for several job vacancies at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) under the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Water Supply. The vacancies are available for the Anuradhapura North Water Supply Project – Phase II on a Project Contract Basis.

Available Water Board Job Vacancies 2026
Salary: Rs. 250,000 + Cost of Living Allowance (COL)
Salary Code: Category D – MSD Circular 02/2026
Salary: Rs. 180,000 + Cost of Living Allowance (COL)
Salary Code: Category E – MSD Circular 02/2026
Applicants should possess the required G.C.E. O/L qualifications, an appropriate heavy vehicle driving licence and the required driving experience.
Quantity Surveyor – Qualifications & Experience
Applicants for the Quantity Surveyor vacancy should satisfy one of the qualification routes specified in the official advertisement.
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in the relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC); and
- Associate Membership or a similar professional qualification obtained from a recognized professional body in the relevant field; and
- At least 6 years of relevant experience.
The advertisement also provides an eligibility route for Class II/III or above officers of Government All-Island Services, or applicants holding similar status in the relevant field, together with the specified relevant experience.
Sociologist – Qualifications & Experience
Applicants for the Sociologist position may qualify through the educational and experience pathways mentioned in the official vacancy advertisement.
Qualification Route 1
- Bachelor's Degree in Sociology recognized by the University Grants Commission as a relevant degree/equivalent qualification; or
- NVQ Level 7 qualification relevant to the technical field of the post from an institution accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission;
- With the experience specified in the official advertisement.
Qualification Route 2
- NVQ Level 6 qualification relevant to the technical field of the post;
- With the required experience in the area of specialization.
Qualification Route 3
- NVQ Level 5 qualification relevant to the technical field of the post;
- At least 9 years of experience in the required area of specialization.
Driver – Qualifications & Experience
- Passed six (06) subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination with at least two (02) Credit Passes, in a maximum of two sittings.
- Possess a licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic for driving heavy vehicles.
- Have a minimum of three (03) years' driving experience after obtaining the relevant driving licence.
Age Limit
Applicants should be below 65 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
Terms and Conditions of Service
Appointments will initially be made on a one-year contract basis. The appointments may be renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance appraisal. Applicable conditions contained in the relevant Management Services Circulars will apply.
Method of Selection
Applicants will be shortlisted based on their qualifications and experience. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and final selection will be based on performance at the interview.
