The University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for Audit Assistant and Management Assistant vacancies at the UGC Secretariat.
Eligible Sri Lankan citizens can submit the prescribed application form by registered post before the closing date. Applicants who wish to apply for both positions must submit separate applications.

Audit Assistant – Grade II
Applicants must possess the required O/L, A/L, accounting-related professional qualification and auditing experience.
Vacancy 02
Management Assistant (Book Keeping) – Grade III
Applicants must possess the required O/L and A/L qualifications together with an accounting technician or Commerce Stream qualification.
Audit Assistant Grade II Qualifications
Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination in six subjects in one sitting, including credit passes in:
- Sinhala Language or Tamil Language
- English Language or English Literature
- Mathematics
Applicants must also have passed all subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in one sitting, excluding the Common General Paper. Three passes under the old syllabus are accepted.
Applicants must possess at least one of the following accounting qualifications:
- Preliminary, Licentiate I, Foundation, CAB I or Executive Level of CA Sri Lanka or an equivalent qualification
- Foundation Level of CIMA
- Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from SLIATE
- Membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka
A minimum of two years of auditing experience in a state corporation or recognized private organization is also required. A recognized computer applications qualification of at least six months will be an added advantage.
Audit Assistant Salary Scale
U-MN 2 (II): Rs. 61,275 – 18 × Rs. 890 – Rs. 77,295 per month
Government-approved allowances will also be paid.
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years of age on the closing date. The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates.
Selection Method
Candidates for the Audit Assistant position will be selected through an interview.
Management Assistant Qualifications
Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination in six subjects in one sitting, including credit passes in:
- Sinhala Language or Tamil Language
- English Language or English Literature
- Mathematics
Applicants should also have passed all subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in one sitting, excluding the Common General Paper.
Candidates must also possess one of the following:
- National Certificate for Accounting Technicians from a Sri Lanka Technical College or College of Technology
- An equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- G.C.E. Advanced Level qualification in the Commerce Stream
Preference will be given to applicants with a recognized computer applications qualification of at least six months and two years of experience using computer application packages.
Management Assistant Salary Scale
U-MN 1 (III): Rs. 49,475 – 17 × Rs. 540 – Rs. 58,655 per month
Government-approved allowances will also be paid.

Selection Method
Selection will be based on a written examination carrying 75% of the total marks and an interview carrying 25%.
The written examination will include:
- Sinhala or Tamil and English language knowledge
- Intelligence quotient and general knowledge
- Computer literacy
- Relevant subject knowledge
