Number of Psychologist Vacancies
Applications are invited to fill 07 vacancies in the post of Psychologist in Grade II of the Field / Office Based Officer Segment 01 Service Category for hospitals and institutions operating under the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.
Method of Recruitment
Eligible applicants will be selected based on the results of a written examination conducted by the Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media or an institution approved by the Secretary.
Candidates obtaining the highest marks will be considered according to the number of available vacancies and will be called for an interview to verify their qualifications and physical fitness.
Examination Medium
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. An applicant may select only one examination medium, and the selected medium cannot be changed after submitting the application.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Applicant must be of excellent character.
- All required qualifications must be completed by the closing date of applications.
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform the duties of the post.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have obtained a Special Degree in Psychology from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission together with a Postgraduate Degree in Psychology.
Applicants should also have obtained a Credit Pass in English Language at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
Professional Qualifications
- Should have completed two years of training in Clinical Psychology at a medical institution recognized by the Government.
- Should have completed six months of training under the supervision of a Specialist Medical Officer in Psychology.
Age Limit
Applicants must be not less than 21 years and not more than 35 years of age as at the closing date of applications.
Psychologist Grade II Salary Scale
This salary scale is stated under Schedule I of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025 dated 25 March 2025.

Terms of Appointment
- Selected officers must be willing to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- The appointment is pensionable, subject to applicable Government policy.
- Relevant official-language proficiency requirements must be completed.
- The appointment is subject to a probation period of three years.

Examination Fee
The examination fee is Rs. 1,000 and is non-refundable.
The fee should be paid through any Bank of Ceylon branch to Account No. 7041318 in the name of “Health Secretary”, Thaprobane Branch, Bank of Ceylon. The receipt should be securely attached to the relevant section of the application.
