Educational Qualifications
Applicants must have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination with a Credit Pass in Physics and passes in two subjects selected from:
- Combined Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Agricultural Science
Applicants must also possess a UGC-recognized Bachelor in Physiotherapy or BSc in Physiotherapy Special Degree carrying a minimum academic value of 120 credits.
Professional Registration
Applicants must be registered with the Sri Lanka Medical Council – SLMC to practise as a physiotherapist in Sri Lanka.
Age Limit and General Requirements
- Applicants must be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years of age as at 07 August 2026.
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants must possess excellent character.
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.
- Applicants must be willing to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- All required qualifications must have been completed by the closing date.
Salary Scale
Salary Code: MT-6-2025
Rs. 54,120 – Rs. 101,910
Payments will be made according to Public Administration Circular 10/2025.
Selection Method
A merit list will be prepared using the effective date of the applicant’s degree and the Grade Point Average obtained for the degree.
Where the number of qualified applicants exceeds the approved number of vacancies, the Ministry may conduct a one-hour written examination covering general knowledge and aptitude.
How to Apply
Step 1 – Prepare the Application
Prepare the application according to the specimen application included in the official Gazette. Use A4-size paper and reproduce the sections in the same order as the specimen.
Step 2 – Pay the Application Fee
Deposit Rs. 1,000 into the following Bank of Ceylon account:

Paste the original bank receipt firmly in the space provided in the application. Keep a photocopy of the receipt before attaching it.
Step 3 – Certify the Signature
The applicant’s signature must be certified by an authorized officer such as a government school principal, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, attorney-at-law, notary public, authorized military officer, gazetted police officer or an eligible government staff-grade officer.
Step 4 – Attach Supporting Documents
Attach certified copies of the relevant documents, including:
- National Identity Card
- Degree certificate
- Documents confirming educational qualifications
- SLMC registration certificate
- Bank payment receipt
Step 5 – Prepare the Envelope
Place the completed application in a 9 × 4 inch envelope. Write the following title on the top-left corner of the envelope:

The relevant degree and academic year should also be stated on the envelope.
Step 6 – Send by Registered Post

Government and Semi-Government Employees: Applications from officers currently employed in government or semi-government institutions must be submitted through the relevant Head of Department.
Documents Required at the Interview
- Birth certificate
- Original degree certificate
- Original detailed academic transcript
- G.C.E. Advanced Level results certificate
- National Identity Card, valid passport or valid driving licence
- Certificate confirming Sri Lanka Medical Council registration
Training and Appointment Conditions
- Selected applicants will undergo six months of training in English at hospitals and other assigned institutions.
- A training allowance will be paid according to Public Administration Circular 10/2025.
- Applicants must enter into an agreement and bond with the Secretary of Health.
- After appointment, selected candidates may be required to serve for at least five years.
- Permanent appointments after training will depend on the vacancies available at that time.
- The Ministry is not obliged to provide residential accommodation during training.
