Applications are invited from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Legal Officer – Grade III in the Executive Service Category of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Sri Lanka.

Legal Officer Vacancy 2026

The Public Service Commission has called applications to fill the existing vacancy for the post of Legal Officer Grade III in the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Candidates who satisfy all required educational, professional and experience requirements stated in the official Gazette notification are eligible to apply. Selection will be based on a structured competency evaluation interview.

Educational / Professional Qualifications

Experience Required

Applicants must possess at least two (02) years of active professional experience after being sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

Alternatively, applicants should have at least two years of relevant experience after being sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law in areas such as:

• Legal work relating to court cases and coordination with the Attorney General’s Department
• Legal work relating to agreements and contracts
• Legal matters relating to relevant Acts and legislation
• Preparation of Bills, circulars, regulations and other legal documents
• Legal, judicial or inquiry-related work conducted by statutory institutions

Age Limit

Applicants must be not less than 21 years and not more than 45 years of age as at the closing date of applications.

Salary

The appointment is permanent and pensionable, subject to the conditions applicable to government service and the relevant Public Administration circulars.

Selection Method

Recruitment will be based on the results of a competency evaluation interview conducted by an interview board appointed by the Public Service Commission.

Marks will be considered under areas including:

• Additional educational qualifications
• Additional professional/legal experience
• Knowledge of Information Technology / IT Law
• English language proficiency
• Performance at the interview
